Rose Bowl would welcome Penn St if it earns bid

Being that I will be at the annual Rose Bowl Game, I wouldn’t mind seeing Penn State representing the Big Ten Conference. I’m sure it will be a media circus, but I wouldn’t mind witnessing that either. Writer Eric Olson states, “There have been calls for Penn State to decline a bowl bid in the aftermath of the child sex-abuse scandal involving former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky.” The current student-athletes should not be penalized for something the former PSU coach did. Sandusky had nothing to do with the current players and their performance on the field. The administration is another story. The administration as a whole needs to reviewed, and the entire athletic program should be dealt with at the end of the academic year, if it is true the former president covered up the scandal. I’ve heard an ESPN radio talk show host calling for the “death penalty” for the program. If you apply the “lack of institutional control” rule, I would say there was no control and it does warrant the “death penalty” and the current athletes should be allowed to transfer without penalty. As for the operators of the Rose Bowl Game, PSU fans travel well, and the game is about making money. If PSU earns the right to represent the Big Ten, I think they should have the opportunity.
