RGIII Accepts Gifts from Fans: right or wrong?

Over the past week somehow Robert Griffin III's wedding registry got "leaked" on the internet. Shortly after his registry was made public many Washington fans felt inclined to send him thousands of Wedding gifts off his registry from Bed, Bath and Beyond. Apparently he now has every single item that the newlyweds requested on the registry.

Now what is the right or proper thing to do about this? Does he keep the gifts, send them back, or donate them? After reading a few articles about this incident I can see that it is hard to answer this question. There has never been a similar scenario about this in the past, and Robert Griffin seems to have everybody talking about his character. You would think someone with a revenue like his could not possibly accept this kind of treatment. Wrong. RGIII posted various tweets on twitter bashing people who were criticizing him. For example he tweeted:

"Because you are rich you are not allowed to receive gifts and any gifts you receive should be donated to charity???? #WOW SMH..."

"Haters gon hate. Theme of the day. They always say more money more problems. Or mo' money mo' problems. Yea I'm cultured #DealWithIt"

"I didn't ask the fans to buy me anything. They found it on their own and decided to get what they could. SMH at all these Debbie downers"

This is when I believe that twitter and social media starts to become a problem. Yes, there is no law, or rule that RGIII has to donate the gifts, nor does he have to give them back. If someone decides to buy a millionaire a gift it is no one’s choice but the person who bought the gift. However, the way RGIII is handling himself says a great deal about his character. He can now be seen as greedy, selfish, and even inconsiderate. Does he really need the donations from thousands of fans in order to start his marriage on the right foot? NO probably not, but now he is trying to prove a point on twitter stating there is nothing illegal going on, but is it ethical? Does RGIII have to carry himself as such on social media? I know that if I was a Washington Redskin’s fan I might have a serious problem with our “star” quarterback.
