Football and Title IX

Before the readings and lecture regarding Title IX, I did not know much about what the law entitled. Just general knowledge off the top of my head and what I've heard in conversation is that it was related to equal opportunities for gender's and you cannot be denied right based on Sex. In particular this evenings lecture about football and how schools are excessive with spending was a little eye-opening to me. As a class we did the math for seven home games for a football team they would spend roughly give or take $72,000 for hotel stays the night before a game and food. Surely if athletic departments can rethink their spending there is room for money to be saved. On the other side, a lot of preparation goes into the schedule leading up to a football game. The night before their is a team dinner, and individual player meeting with position coaches. So you can see why a head coach would want his team close and in the confines of a hotel so that the possibility of them getting into trouble or mischief the night before a game is eliminated and that their focus can be on their contest the next day.

As a future sport manager, budgeting and spending is an important aspect of a job. So it is imperative to always consider changes and alternatives to be efficient with money and funds.
