Fallon Fox: The Ultimate Fighting Conundrum

I just saw this very interesting article on Fallon Fox who is an MMA fighter.  She was born a boy and grew up with a very strong disconnect.  Here are a couple of her quote about how she felt growing up as a boy, “I wished I was like my sister,” she said. “I wanted to grow up and be like that.” She struggled with being a boy yet feeling like a girl.  She tried as hard as she could to be a straight man and even fathered a child and had a stint in the military.  After getting out she still didn't feel comfortable in her own body.  After research she realized that she was transgender.  It was very hard but she came out to her friends and family.  She went to counseling and eventually decided that she wanted to make a sex change.  She saved up her money and went to Thailand for “gender reassignment surgery.”

The article also goes on to speak about how she is a survivor of being a transgender.  A lot of transgender people never come to the realization and have issues with depression, drug use, alcoholism, and even suicide.  She states about how hard it has been on her and how she is finally happy.  She is currently a former man now competing as a women's MMA fighter who is 2-0 in her professional career and has a fight on an AXS TV fight coming up.

The article goes on to talk about if she has a competitive advantage being a former male.  The average person asks are her testosterone to high and do they give her an advantage.  The Association of Boxing Commission sanctioned transgender athletes to compete.  The Florida athletic commission accepted the rules put forth by the Association of Boxing Commission.  So after all that controversy she is going to fight on the card for Championship Fighting Alliance.
