The King of L.A.

In every sports market across the country there is “KING” of that city that individual is usually the most popular and decorated player who is currently playing. Here in the "City of Angels" many will say that Kobe Bryant is the “King of LA”. But now as he nearing the end of his career some are asking who is going to be the next King of LA? There are a lot of candidates who could assume the role Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, Jonathan Quick, Dwight Howard, David Beckham, Landon Donovan? All of these are big names in their respective sports and can be argued to be the next heir. I however based upon the current landscape of the LA sports landscape there are two names that I feel will be 1a and 1b to the throne “KB24” will leave behind. In order to qualify to be a "KING" of your city your team has to win more than they lose and you must also be someone who is well known outside from just playing your respective sport.
1a) Dwight Howard, until he plays some more games and can show he is healthy and able to contribute he cannot be the man in LA. Howard was made for the bright lights and cameras of Hollywood. He has a huge ego that requires a lot of attention, he has numerous endoresment deals, a basketball wife who is his child's mother lol, and he is also a dominant figure on the basketball court when he is healthy. our sport.
1b)  Matt Kemp of the LA Dodgers, Kemp has displayed the skills and talent to be one of baseball’s biggest up and coming stars and has propelled the Dodgers to become an exciting team to watch again. He is also the ex-boyfriend of Riahana, a childhood friend of Blake Griffin they both are from Oklahoma, and he is becoming a reconizalbe face outside of baseball.

I know some of you are like why isn't Blake in consideration he is on a winning team and he is marketable. Yes, you are right but until Blake stops selling Subway footlongs and Hynduai's he is just a basketball player who hapens to sell products that sponsor the NBA. He is on his way to the throne but just not yet.
