One of the biggest realizations that I have come to throughout the course of this class is how corrupt the NCAA is. I had always heard rumblings about how it may not be the most efficient way to manage college athletics, but my eyes were truly opened when we looked at the actual figures and facts. This has been a theme throughout many of the topics that we have touched on in the class. Initially we touched on the countless and tedious rules that athletes must follow in order to stay NCAA eligible. These include the rules of being not able to move from a school without a penalty if their sport is cut. Then there is the issue of whether or not college athletes should be paid. Regardless of your position on this issue, it is obvious that the NCAA is disproportionately benefiting from events like the NCAA Bowl Championship Series, and Final Four Tournament. Where even if the athletes are not being paid some of the more that is going to the NCAA as profit could at the very least go to scholarships. Then there are the issues surrounding Title IX, how the women's sports and  underfunded men's sports are getting the short end of the stick, because too much money is going to football and basketball. The NCAA as the governing body should be responsible for correcting this imbalance and yet they do nothing. It is shocking to me that such corruption is known and continues on a daily basis. I want to let the world know about these injustices, but I am just a college football fan with only a limited amount of reach. The media needs to carry this torch!
