Can watching a sport lead a fan to practice religion? I think it can. Tim Tebow is a prime example of a professional athlete who brought about increased religious awareness and sport followership. As the quarterback of the Denver Broncos, Tim Tebow became widely known for his religious belief in Christianity and the missionary practices that he has engaged upon. As a display of how he impacted non NFL fans, large numbers of people who didn’t follow the NFL began to watch Denver Broncos games, and read the sports page or check the news or Sportscenter to see how Tim Tebow performed in the latest Broncos game. As for his impact on NFL fans, large numbers of them began to attend church. Congregations around the country were experiencing their largest numbers as a whole in many years. In some cases, churches were attaining more attendants than ever before. The reason for this increase is most popularly believed to be because of Tim Tebow, his beliefs, his practices, and his NFL performance.
