How do the actions of athletes in society impact sport organizations? When Michael Vick was quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons he became convicted of torturing animals. These actions, committed by this one player in an organization consisting of hundreds of people, cost the organization millions of dollars. First, they had to fire Vick and find a new quarterback. Next, they had to deal with the NFL. Finally, they had to encounter the rage of PETA, and much more. In contrast, Tim Tebow, with his athletic performance and his missionary practices, brought millions of additional dollars and large numbers of new fans to the Denver Broncos. Along with these two extreme cases there have been many milder situations that have arisen due to the actions of athletes in society. How does an organization cope with or enhance the benefits or drawbacks associated with these occurrences?
