For some it may be a little easier to gather and conceptualize information from film rather than print.  Given the amount of Latin American baseball players in the United States, it is important to understand what they go through on a day to day basis.  Obviously, it is impossible to completely grasp this from a two hour film.  But what this film does is give an insight as to what these ballplayers go though both at home and in the new communities they wish to assimilate with.
The film is called Sugar, a somewhat independent film about a ballplayer from the Dominican Republic and the struggles which he has to go through to even reach single-A ball.  What many people forget, or choose to ignore, is that for every ballplayer that makes it to the major leagues, there are probably hundreds, if not thousands, of ballplayers whose dreams get shattered.  What this film does is give a look at what it might be like for a foreign ballplayer trying to achieve their big league dreams.  It is a great film which has been acclaimed as such by professional players such as Pedro Martinez and David Ortiz.
